I decided to set a running goal. Instead of waiting until New Year's, I started on November 1st. My goal is to run 1,000 miles in one year. That's just under 20 miles a week or about 2.74 miles a day. I think it's attainable if I keep up with my running. We'll see. If it's not attainable, I can adjust my goal for next year.

So, 5.5 miles down.
994.5 miles and 362 days to go.
That's still about 2.74 miles a day.

Yesterday I ran the Schuykill River Trail. I hadn't been there in a while; it was nice to be back. They had done a nice job clearing the path since Hurricane Sandy. It was obvious they had cut some trees down that had fallen across the path and most of the leaves were cleared off the path. I was there later in the afternoon so the path was not as crowded as usual. (It was also chilly!) There were still a lot of cyclists out, though. A few runners and walkers as well. And a cat. He was moseying the opposite direction as me.

I felt pretty good during my long run. I even pushed it a little harder the last mile and a half. I listened to music which I normally don't do when I run on the sidewalks along roads, so that helped. I'm trying to get back in shape because I'm thinking of running a marathon in March in New Jersey. We'll see!

I'm only running the half-marathon this year. I'm thinking about doing a whole marathon in March, though!

Are you running the Philly marathon this year?
