Today I ran the Rock and Roll Philadelphia Half-Marathon. I finished in 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 12 seconds which was 15 minutes and 8 seconds faster than my previous best half marathon!! I was so excited because my goal was 12 minute miles and I crushed it!!!
The weather was SUPERB for running today. It was cool and sunny. I wasn't the least bit hot or cold during the race. I was sweating but not like I normally do during my training runs.
I know some other people that ran the race, but I only saw my friend Tim from work. I didn't mind running by myself; I watch the other runners go by. It was also great to see and hear all the different bands along the way.
Chris was the best hubby EVER and got up super early to go down to the race with me. I saw him around the 5K mark and he saw me less than a tenth of a mile from the finish. It was so great to get my medal and some food and then get a big congratulatory hug from the love of my life. We went straight from the race to his Kronum play-off game. (They lost, but it was SUCH a close game!)
I'm feeling a little sore, but for the most part I'm feeling totally recovered. I'm so proud of myself and I can't wait to keep training for the marathon in November. (My mom said she's definitely coming - WOOHOO! Especially since it's on her birthday.) I'll be signing up to run the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in Philly again next year!

Congrats on the half marathon! I knew that you could do it. I'm glad that I got to see you run, even if I did have to get up super early. Now it's time to set your sites on the full marathon! |
