This morning I headed out for my run before my first official task for the new school year. (It was lunch - nothing too difficult, don't worry.) My Thursday run is up to 5 miles, so I went back to Valley Forge to do the loop. (On Tuesday night Chris and I met some friends to walk the loop so I used my GPS watch to be sure that it was actually 5 miles. It is!)

It was HOT and humid even at 9:10 this morning. I was sweating the whole time. I felt really slow and sluggish today. But I ran 50 seconds faster than Sunday...I don't understand. I always am faster when I feel slow.

I love having my miles splits. There's a big hill in the third mile, so you can see I slowed down to conquer it. Then I was DYING so I kept my pace slower...it certainly felt slower than what it actually was! I was able to push myself to finish the whole 5 miles without walking. It took some serious willpower.

This weekend I have my first double workout to practice for race weekend when I will run a 5K and 10K on Saturday and a half-marathon on Sunday. I have 5 miles planned for Saturday (with 3 at half-marathon pace) and then 6 miles on Sunday. Now that I have my GPS watch I can run up to the Perkiomen Valley trail from the SRT. I didn't used to run on that one since I couldn't find mile markers, but now it doesn't matter!
