I did my 9 mile long run today. Ran over at the Schuykill River Trail, but this time I drove across the river and parked at the Betzwood Picnic Area instead of having to walk across the bridge. I ran 4.5 miles towards Philadelphia and then back again. I pretty much ran all the way home before turning around; I think I was close to being in line with the apartment. And the trail goes through the Norristown Transportation Center. It goes between the bus terminal and the train station. I thought that was a little bizarre.
I ran later than usual, and there were a LOT of cyclists out. I also used my hydration belt for the first time. Chris thinks they look goofy, but I'll tell you, it was VERY handy. I felt pretty good until the 9th mile. I cramped up and had to walk a couple minutes. I always go out just a little too fast, which is why I'll probably join a pacing team for the actual race. You just pick the time you want to finish in, and then you run with a group of runners that are also trying to finish in that time. A group leader (or two) that can run marathons faster than the goal time leads the group and runs the same pace the whole race. I have to run a few more weeks before I decide what race pace group I want to be in.
