5 miles - Week 3

Today was the long run of my step-back week, and it was only 5 miles. I felt ok during the run. The weather was pleasant though. I ran the 5 mile loop in Valley Forge National Park. It's MUCH hillier than the Schuykill River Trail that I normally do my long runs on. I was up late watching the Phils so I was a little sore and tired in the beginning. I stopped for a quick bathroom break during the middle of my run (and I stopped my watch too so I could time my actual running), and I felt pretty good until the big hill at the end. I also thought I was running slightly faster than I should have been, but the loop doesn't have mile markers so I wasn't positive until the end. Looking back I probably should have run slower for my step-back week miles. I'll keep that in mind for the next one. That way I'll be better rested for the increase in mileage in the weeks to come. Enjoy your weekend!

Don't know what step-back means but it sounds like you are doing great. Hey I was up watching the Phils too. See that fight? See you Sunday.
