Marathon Training Blog

I've decided to run a marathon and blog about my experiences as I go through my training. I found an 18 week novice program online that I'm going to follow. Hopefully I can tap into my running genes, but I'm mostly focusing on finishing the race as opposed to doing well in the race.

I chose the Philadelphia Marathon on Sunday, November 20th for my first marathon. I chose it mainly because of its proximity to where I live. When my parents and I ran the half marathon in Philly a few years ago, we really enjoyed the course. The second half runs along the river, so it shouldn't be too hilly. It was cool to run through the different parts of the city so I'm looking forward to that.

I'm already nearly two weeks into the 18 week program. I'm going to blog about my runs and keep track of my workouts along the way. You can help cheer me on so I complete my goal!

Here's what I've done so far:
Last week I ran 15 miles. I did 3 3-mile runs and a 6 mile long run. I also did some non-running cardio for an hour.

This week I have 16 miles. I already did 3 3-mile runs and I have a 7 mile run on Saturday. I'll start blogging my individual workouts starting with what I did today.

P.S. Today's my 24th birthday!! What a good day to start a blog. :)
