The Broad Street Run is insanely popular and last year the race sold out all 30,000 spots in less than five hours. So this year they decided to go to a lottery system, and I am happy to report that I was selected! I am pretty excited to be running my fourth Broad Street Run this year. Chris and I signed up to volunteer at the Expo the Saturday afternoon before the race. We will be handing out race bibs.
I ran REALLY well at Broad Street last year. My goal was 1:45 and I ended up running 1:38:30. I know if I train consistently I can do even better this year. I have 8 races of various lengths coming up between now and June 9th and I would like to do well in all of them. Obviously I care about some more than others. Yesterday I added the race names to all my PRs; I noticed that 2012 was a very good year. I PRed in every distance I ran in 2012. I want to have an even better year this year!
So to try to get ready for the Ocean Drive 10 Miler I have coming up in about a month I headed out for a drizzly 4 mile run. It wasn't too cold but it was a bit breezy and wet. I wanted to wear a new running top I got from Old Navy, but it was gray and I didn't want to blend in. So I wore the bright orange reflective vest my parents got me for Christmas. I won't lie; I looked pretty awesome! It was a little rough since I haven't run in a while, but I settled into the run by the end. Now to keep up the training!
