If it didn't snow for the next five years, I'm not sure I'd mind. Yes, all I wanted the past two years was a snow day...or even just a two-hour delay. But no.

However, Mother Nature's making up for lost time. Today was our EIGHTH snow day this year. We had four built in to our calendar; we extended the last week of school, and we just lost Easter Monday. I really, really hope that's it this year. I was all for the first four, but after that they start messing everything up! You can bring on the two-hour delays though; we don't have to make them up.

Also, I never want to shovel again. We literally don't have anywhere to put our snow anymore. Come take a look down the steps that lead into the backyard. I have to carry the snow halfway down the driveway just to be able to throw it on the pile. Luckily it was warm today, so a teeny bit melted. But no worries: more is on the way tomorrow! You were getting worried, weren't you?

Since tomorrow's forecast is iffy and since I missed two midweek runs earlier this week because of the weather, I decided to get a run in today. Chris took my car to work (it's better in the snow and his Jeep is at the shop), so I planned a nice little 3 mile route that would end at 202. That way I'd be able to walk to Baja for lunch and then walk home. Once I had run 2.75ish miles, I realized that the sidewalk along 202 may not be shoveled. I decided if it wasn't, I'd just walk home. Approximately three minutes later, I discover that, yes, the 202 sidewalk had not been shoveled. Since I wasn't about to walk down the shoulder of 202, I started to walk back home. But then I realized I was a little less than a mile from home. Since I had four miles on the agenda for tomorrow, I decided I'd get my four miles in today and run the three miles either Saturday or Sunday. So that's what happened. I had to add an extra loop to make it a full four miles, but I did. My mile splits were pretty good. The last one was slower since I walked 20ish seconds before deciding to keep running.

Mile 1: 10:18
Mile 2: 10:20
Mile 3: 10:28
Mile 4: 10:40

0.14 mile walk

I ran in the streets (against traffic) since most sidewalks had not yet been shoveled. It was mostly back roads so the traffic was light. There was slush in some parts and a river running down every curb, but it wasn't slippery. Overall, a pretty good run!

Pretty nice. And don't worry, you'll probably get something out of the snow tonight into tomorrow.
