Brrrrr. It is cold outside! But that didn't stop me getting outside for a run on this otherwise gorgeous day. :)
I was scheduled to do 3.5 miles for my long run this weekend. Yesterday was a bit warmer so I should've run outside yesterday and then cross trained at the gym today but I didn't think of that. So I waited til it was close to the high temperature and bundled on up. This is what I wore:
leggings under workout pants with my socks tucked in between, and then I wore a long sleeve technical t-shirt (my marathon one!) tucked in between my layers of pants. Over that I wore a long-sleeve running jacket, and over THAT I wore a zip up fleece with a hood. I also wore a baseball cap, my old-school pads-on-the-outside-of-your-ears headphones, and a beanie on top of that. And finally I wore some running gloves. Woooooo. But I was warm!
There were surprisingly some other people out on the SRT, but I'd say 90% of them looked serious, especially the cyclists. There was one old lady walking her dog.
I felt very good during my run, although my arms were heavy from all the layers. I find it a bit easier to run when it's cold as I don't feel as thirsty or hot as when it's warmer...so I don't mind the cold sunny days occasionally.
I'm running the 10K at the Get Your Rear in Gear on March 18th. There were more weeks between when I started training and when the race is than there are in the training plan, so I'm repeating the first four weeks twice. Hopefully I can really build a good base. I'd love to break an hour in the 10K this year!
